Hello there friends! It's been a busy time since I last updated, but at last I have something new to share. If you follow Stitches of Future Past on Tiktok, you might have seen some of my surprise in video form, but now my color schemes are coming to the blog as well! If you haven't seen them yet, here's a breakdown: I check out the trending color schemes, and break down different ones into specific colors across a few affordable brands (that can be shipped in the US, or are commonly found at craft stores here). I've seen a ton of people posting on social media in the lovely crafting groups I frequent about being stuck picking out colors for a new project, and this seemed like a solid way to fix that. So once a week I'll be posting color schemes, their yarn equivalents, and where to order from / shop at to get them. This is particularly useful since colors with the same name across brands can be completely different actual colors. I've provided links for purchasing each color in the list for each set of tones.
So without further ado, here's the first beautiful block of colors!
This color scheme came from the trending colors on www.coolers.com, an extremely helpful website for this sort of thing. Today we have a nice set of brights, great to use as color pops on projects with a lot of black, and fun in quilts and shawls too! Now working with my stash of yarn, I came up with a close match for each, and here's what I ended up with.
Yellow - Red Heart Super Saver in "Gold"
Orange - Big Twist in "Orange"
Pink - Big Twist in "Magenta"
Purple - Mainstays in "Purple"
Blue - Red Heart Super Saver "Delft Blue"
Now before I buy, I find it can be a big help to see how colors look when worked into a project together. To do just that, here's a granny square!
To buy these colors, you'll need to make a trip to Joanne's and Walmart, or order online from www.walmart.com for the Mainstays yarn, and www.joann.com for all the rest.
To finish off, I'd love to see anything you make with these. Tag me with @Stitchesoffuturepast on Instagram or Tiktok and I'll happily take a look! Also, if you're stuck finding colors for your next project, let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can find for you.
Have a good one Everyone, I'm really looking forward to doing more of these! I hope you enjoyed today's color scheme yarn breakdown :)
