Color Scheme Yarn Breakdown #5

Welcome to the color scheme yarn breakdown! Here we are again with another group of yarns. These colors are across a few brands of affordable acrylic yarns that are local to the US, and the brand matters - I've found quite a few color names that are the same across brands but end up being totally different colors. That said, that's the whole reason I'm here - to make your project easier! So here we go with color scheme #5!

A pleasant and cool set of colors - a greenish tan, a light green, a medium green, a light brown, and a dark brown.
Color Scheme #5

This color scheme came from the trending colors on www.coolers.com, an extremely helpful website for this sort of thing. So today we're looking at a set of natural tones that fades through cool greens to warm browns. These would be great for cottagecore fans or for masc/menswear, and put me in mind of the old Frog and Toad stories. After a peek through my color book, here's what I settled upon:

  • Tan - Caron 1 lb "Dove"

  • Light Green - Red Heart Super Saver "Frosty Green"

  • Darker Green - Red Heart Super Saver "Tea Leaf"

  • Medium Brown - Red Heart Super Saver "Cafe Latte"

  • Dark Brown - Mainstays "Brown"

A crochet granny square made up of sets of double crochet. The outer most ring is a dark brown, the next in a lighter brown, followed by a medium green, an icy green, and a tan in the middle.

For this shopping list, Mainstays yarn can be purchased at www.walmart.com and all others are available at www.joann.com

To finish off, I'd love to see anything you make with these. Tag me with @Stitchesoffuturepast on Instagram or Tiktok and I'll happily take a look! Also, if you're stuck finding colors for your next project, let me know in the comments and I'll see what I can find for you.

Thank you for reading today, and I hope these colors inspire you to create!
