In my last post I mentioned a project that was still a bit of a baby concept at the time. Now, however, I'm happy to say the idea has grown and is getting closer and closer to being a finished prototype! This project has started to make my direction as a creator a bit more clear - I'm finding great joy in creating works that play with the viewer's perceptions through different textures, colors, and even weights of material. This quilt project is a child of that joy, and will hopefully be the first of several, as it has spawned several ideas for other projects. The quest quilt will be a patchwork stitch sampler quilt, creating a landscape in the form of a map through it's use of different techniques and textures. While some of the textures are what could be considered advanced crochet, this will be aimed at teaching each of the different textures to crafters who may not have experimented in that way before. This will also be a project using more than one size of hook, where the size indicated is very important to the patch being created being able to fit into the surrounding structure of the quilt. It's unusual for sure, but using the different hooks will give the final project a level of detail that would not otherwise be possible. That gets the wordy part of the update out of the way, are you ready for the fun part? Here are just a few of the beautiful textures that will be a part of the finished Quest Quilt! I can't wait to share this pattern with all of you, and I hope you love these projects as much as I do.
